ZTE and TELUS Launch Connect-Hub 5G Internet Gateway in Canada

ZTE Canada, a global provider of end-to-end network solutions and consumer technologies, has announced the launch of the TELUS Connect-Hub 5G Internet Gateway, a new fixed wireless access solution designed to simplify and enhance home internet connectivity.

The Connect-Hub 5G is available in two versions: an indoor unit and an outdoor unit, providing flexible deployment options for different usage scenarios. The indoor unit can be placed on a flat surface inside the home and easily relocated as needed. The outdoor unit is designed to improve connectivity in areas with weaker wireless signals, helping to increase overall data throughput across the existing indoor Wi-Fi network.

The Connect-Hub 5G outdoor unit features additional environmental protection, including IP65-rated dust and water resistance, 6 kV lightning protection, and stable operation across a wide humidity range of 5% to 95%, making it suitable for outdoor installations in various conditions.

Both the indoor and outdoor units support 4G LTE, 5G SA and NSA modes, and operate on sub-6 GHz frequency bands. Advanced antenna technologies and intelligent algorithms automatically select the strongest available network signal to optimize performance. The indoor unit supports up to 30 simultaneous Wi-Fi connections and uses innovative antenna design to deliver 360-degree dual-band Wi-Fi coverage.

Designed as an all-in-one solution, the Connect-Hub 5G indoor device replaces traditional home internet modems and routers, providing high-speed internet access and connectivity for multiple devices through a single hub. It also includes built-in security features such as WPA and WPA2 Wi-Fi encryption, VPN support, DMZ, and IP filtering, helping protect home networks.

To address heat generated by high-speed wireless performance, the indoor unit uses a fanless cooling design. A chimney-style ventilation structure, combined with a silent internal heat sink and thermal phase-change materials, ensures efficient heat dissipation without generating noise.

Ease of installation is a key design feature of the Connect-Hub 5G. The indoor unit is designed for self-installation with minimal maintenance, while real-time network signal indicators help users identify the optimal placement location. Wi-Fi setup is completed through a dedicated mobile application.

Commenting on the launch, Samuel Sun, President of ZTE North America, stated that the partnership with TELUS brings Canada’s first 5G CPE solution, helping make home internet access more affordable and accessible, particularly for customers with limited wired broadband options.

Dwayne Benefield, Senior Vice President of Connected Home and Entertainment at TELUS, noted that TELUS Wireless 5G will deliver higher speeds and improved connectivity, especially in rural areas. He highlighted that TELUS selected the Connect-Hub 5G for its easy installation, reliable performance, and support for existing frequency bands, including the 3500 MHz band, enabling faster streaming, conferencing, and gaming experiences.
